Sayquawn Lamer Wiggins, a 19-year-old male, was found deceased on February 19, 2014, in Cottonton, Alabama. His body was discovered in the grass near a church parking lot, the victim of a fatal shooting. The investigation into his death quickly uncovered a history of threats and a motive rooted in a drug-related dispute.
Authorities identified Wiggins's uncle, Antonio Darset King, also known as 'Bonnie,' as a primary suspect.
The investigation revealed that King had made multiple threats to kill Wiggins, stemming from accusations that Wiggins had stolen a significant amount of cocaine from him. These threats were so serious that both Wiggins and his mother had filed police reports about them in the months leading up to the murder. Another individual, Santago Montrell Davis, was also implicated in the events surrounding the homicide.
According to statements made to investigators, King had coerced Davis into helping him locate Wiggins. King allegedly threatened to harm Davis's family if he did not cooperate. On the day of the murder, cell phone records and data from an ankle monitor placed both King and Davis in close proximity to the crime scene around the estimated time of Wiggins's death. The investigation suggested that Wiggins and Davis were in a car together when they were abducted at a traffic light by a group that included King. Davis was eventually released, but Wiggins was not.
Following the investigation, Antonio Darset King was arrested. Evidence gathered, including the prior threats and location data, was presented in legal proceedings. King was ultimately found guilty on multiple counts and sentenced to a lengthy prison term. The case against him highlighted a premeditated plot to locate and murder Sayquawn Lamer Wiggins.
