On March 17, 2014, 57-year-old Clo Ann Taylor Stoner was found deceased in her Florence, Alabama, home alongside 41-year-old Joanna Strickland Butler. Both women had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities identified 52-year-old Mark Edwin Montgomery as the primary suspect. Montgomery, who had relationships with both victims, was apprehended after a brief car chase near the crime scene.
