On July 20, 2014, 52-year-old Jeffrey Carter McMillan of Spanish Fort, Alabama, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a local bar. The incident occurred following a confrontation in which McMillan reportedly engaged in conversation with the wife of Larry Lambert Sheffield, a constable in Mobile County at the time. The altercation escalated, leading to Sheffield shooting McMillan.
