On April 13, 2015, a domestic dispute in Jemison, Alabama, ended in the tragic death of 24-year-old Leaj Jarvis Price. The young mother was fatally shot by her husband, Eric Heath Price, in a desperate attempt to find safety.
The events unfolded as Leaj fled their home and sought refuge in a nearby doctor's office. Her husband pursued her to the medical facility and shot her. Following the shooting, Eric Price returned to their residence and barricaded himself inside for several hours. The standoff concluded when he shot himself in the head, an injury he ultimately survived.
Eric Heath Price was subsequently arrested and faced legal consequences for his actions. In mid-April 2016, as his trial was about to commence in Chilton County, he pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife. As part of a plea agreement, three counts of making terroristic threats were dismissed. On May 11, 2016, a judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison for the murder of Leaj Jarvis Price.
