On July 22, 2015, in Brent, Alabama, 45-year-old Catherine Leverette was shot by her husband, Randy Leverette Sr., at their home on Dogwood Drive. Their son, Randy Leverette Jr., was also injured in the incident. Both victims were transported to local hospitals; Catherine was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, while her son was admitted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Initially, their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
