On the evening of September 15, 2016, at approximately 7:37 PM, Ozark/Dale County E911 received a call reporting a firearms assault in progress in the 3300 block of North Highway 123 in Ariton, Alabama. As deputies were en route, dispatchers relayed that shots had been fired and an individual had been struck. The victim and his son were reported to be leaving the scene, and a description of their vehicle was provided to responding officers.
