On December 7, 2016, 18-year-old Ashlynn Sparks of McCalla, Alabama, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery in Lipscomb. That evening, Ashlynn and her boyfriend were in a parked car on Circle Avenue when they were approached by individuals attempting to rob them.
