On August 21, 2025, Angelicca Amber Newton, a 29-year-old woman, was fatally shot in Lipscomb, Alabama, in what authorities have described as a domestic violence incident. The shooting occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of 5th Street North and 6th Avenue North while Newton was a passenger in a truck. At the time of her death, Newton was between six and ten weeks pregnant.

suspected shooter. Following the shooting, Newton was transported to a hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. In connection with the death of Angelicca Newton, police arrested 32-year-old Alfred Lee Colvin III of Bessemer. He has been charged with capital murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond. Following his arrest, he was initially held in the Lipscomb City Jail before being extradited to Jefferson County.
