On December 22, 2016, 12-year-old Jade Alton "Bubba" Jones was fatally shot at a friend's residence in Geneva County, Alabama. The incident occurred when a 14-year-old boy, while handling a shotgun inside the home, discharged the weapon, striking Jade in the side and resulting in his immediate death.
