On July 5, 2017, 32-year-old Adrian Lockett was fatally shot at his fiancée's apartment in the Marks Village public housing community in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred on the 7500 block of 67th Courtway South in the Gate City area. Following the shooting, 39-year-old Verneil Wilson, the ex-husband of Lockett's fiancée, turned himself in to the Birmingham Police Department and was charged with murder.
