On the night of September 26, 2017, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Pine Hill Police Officer Brent McGuffee responded to reports of gunfire near County Road 18. After patrolling the area without incident, officers received another call at 12:21 a.m. regarding two men found shot at the residence of Charles Mallory, located at 66 Violet Lane.
