On a late September day in 2017, the community of Tuscumbia, Alabama, was shaken by the violent death of a long-time resident. Kayron Regina Galbreath, a 53-year-old woman, was killed on Thursday, September 28, 2017. The cause of her death was a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident occurred around 6:30 PM near a local restaurant on Highway 72. Authorities were called to the scene, where they discovered Galbreath.
She was transported to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators from the Tuscumbia Police Department began piecing together the events that led to Galbreath's death. Their investigation quickly focused on her live-in boyfriend, 51-year-old Tommy Ray Craig. It was alleged that a dispute between the couple had escalated, culminating in the fatal shooting.
Following their investigation, police arrested Craig and charged him with murder. He was taken into custody and booked into the Colbert County Jail, where he was held on a $1 million bond.
