On November 12, 2017, 27-year-old Christopher "Chris" McCrory was fatally shot at his home on Aimee Drive in Coaling, Alabama. The incident stemmed from a family dispute involving McCrory's niece and the son of 46-year-old David Eugene Mitchell. The two younger individuals had engaged in a heated argument over Facebook Messenger, which escalated into threats.
