On May 26, 2018, Kadarius Smith, a 20-year-old man from Camden, Alabama, was fatally shot in the early morning hours. The incident occurred at a residence on the 400 block of North Broad Street in Camden, a small town in Wilcox County. Smith, who had been visiting a friend at the home, was reportedly involved in an altercation just before the shooting. Witnesses stated that the confrontation escalated quickly, and Smith was shot multiple times.
