On June 2, 2018, at approximately 1:59 a.m., deputies from the Covington County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at the Soggy Bottom Tavern, located on County Road 21 in Red Level, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Zadarios Arlyic McCaskill deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses reported that McCaskill had stepped off the stage after two fights erupted within the establishment and was subsequently shot.
