Rodrick Dewayne Tolbert, a 32-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot on June 16, 2018, in what authorities later determined to be a homicide. The shooting took place in the evening hours, with police responding to a report of gunfire in the 4100 block of 38th Street North. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Tolbert suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, Tolbert succumbed to his injuries.
