On September 9, 2018, at approximately 2:30 a.m., 20-year-old Evan Mikale Wilson of Tuskegee, Alabama, was fatally shot near the 200 block of West Magnolia Avenue in Auburn. The incident occurred outside a McDonald's restaurant, where a group had gathered and an altercation escalated into gunfire. Wilson sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning.
