In the late summer of 2018, the life of David Christen Lorenzo Rivamonte, a 30-year-old White/Caucasian male from Huntsville, Alabama, came to a tragic and violent end. On September 14, 2018, investigators unearthed Rivamonte's buried remains near a home on County Road 86 in Woodville. An autopsy would later reveal that he had been fatally shot with a handgun. The discovery of his body officially launched a homicide investigation into the death of the man who was known for his skills as a car repairman and his love for landscaping.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a suspect, 31-year-old Brandon Blaine Berry of Woodville. Investigators believed that Berry had restrained and assaulted Rivamonte before ultimately shooting him. In May of 2021, a Jackson County jury weighed the evidence presented and found Brandon Blaine Berry guilty of both first-degree kidnapping and murder.
