On a late spring evening in Washington, D.C., the life of Cornell Yates, a 36-year-old male, was tragically cut short. In the 800 block of Yuma Street, SE, on Friday, June 17, 2010, at approximately 10:20 pm, gunfire erupted, and Yates was struck. First responders rushed to the scene to render aid to the wounded man. He was transported to a local hospital to fight for his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
