On May 25, 2021, 67-year-old Brian Arthur Shaw was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds at his residence on Ladonna Drive in Odenville, Alabama. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Odenville Police Department and Jacksonville State University's Applied Forensic Science Unit, initiated an extensive investigation into the homicide.
Shortly after the incident, authorities arrested 20-year-old Charles Lawrence Grimmett III, charging him with Shaw's murder
