In the Deanwood neighborhood of Washington, D.C., on the evening of February 28, 2014, Jason Emmanuel Bryant, a 26-year-old African-American man, was with his older brother, 34-year-old Khalid Jamal Bryant. The two brothers were walking in the 5000 block of Lee Street NE when gunfire shattered the night around 7:45 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found both Jason and Khalid unconscious and not breathing. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
