In the early morning hours of March 2, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Fredrikis M. Heard, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. Police and fire medics were dispatched to the 4900 block of Hatton Avenue at approximately 12:45 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Heard suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Fredrikis Heard succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Montgomery Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting. As investigators began to piece together the events that led to the senseless violence, a suspect was identified in the case.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified 30-year-old Isaiah Gipson of Montgomery as the individual responsible for Heard's death. On March 8, 2023, Gipson was taken into custody by law enforcement. He was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting. Following his arrest, Isaiah Gipson was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was held without bond. Family and friends of Fredrikis, who was affectionately known as 'Man-Man,' gathered to lay him to rest on March 13, 2023, at a graveside service held at Westview Cemetery in Auburn, Alabama.
