In the midnight hour of September 7, 2014, the life of 22-year-old Anthony Miller Jr. was tragically cut short on a street in Northeast Washington, D.C. The young man, whose race is not publicly known, was found by police in the 3100 block of Newton Street, Northeast, near the Maryland border, suffering from the devastating effects of a shooting.
Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Fifth District were dispatched to the scene around 12:00 a.m. after receiving a report of gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Miller, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
