On August 27, 2023, at approximately 8:26 p.m., Demopolis Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at 908 South Glover Street in Demopolis, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Khiya King inside the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately administered aid until medical personnel arrived. King was transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
