In the quiet community of Hatton, just outside of Moulton, Alabama, 46-year-old Angela Berryman Hill Harville, a female, was at her residence on County Road 161 on the evening of September 13, 2023. Known for her warm and friendly nature, she was a woman who, by all accounts, had never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. A devoted mother to her four children and a cherished 'Daddy's girl,' her life was centered around her loved ones.
The tranquility of that Wednesday evening was shattered around 6:20 p.m. when her in-law, 58-year-old Timothy Houston Harville, arrived at her home. According to witnesses, what began as an argument escalated with terrifying speed. In a sudden act of violence, Timothy Harville is alleged to have pointed a shotgun at Angela and fired, fatally wounding her in the head. The confrontation left a community in shock and a family irrevocably broken.
In the aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement quickly responded, and Timothy Harville was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Lawrence County Jail. At the time of this violent encounter, Harville was not a stranger to law enforcement. He was already out on bond for a previous incident that occurred in December 2022, which had led to charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling and reckless endangerment.
Given the violent nature of the crime and his prior charges, Timothy Harville was held without bond pending an Aniah's Law hearing, a provision designed to keep violent offenders detained.
