On June 28, 2024, in Thomasville, Alabama, 64-year-old Esaw Wood was tragically murdered during a home invasion. The Clarke County Sheriff's Office received a request for a welfare check on Wood at his residence on Pleasant Hill Road on June 30. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a trail of blood and drag marks leading from the home to the area where Wood's vehicle had been parked, indicating foul play. Wood's vehicle was missing, prompting a nationwide alert.
