In a heartbreaking turn of events, two-year-old Kynli Grace Kendrick, a little girl with a bright smile and beautiful curly hair, was killed on July 18, 2024, in West Blocton, Alabama. Born on February 2, 2022, in Bessemer, Alabama, Kynli was known for her love of dressing up and dancing to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Her life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that also claimed the lives of her mother, Kelse Ely Kendrick, 24; her six-year-old brother, Kaleb Kendrick; her eight-year-old
cousin, Colton Daniels; and her six-year-old cousin, Haley Daniels. All five victims were found shot in the head.
The evening of the tragedy had a somber beginning, as the family had just celebrated a birthday party for Colton. Law enforcement was called to the residence on Greentree Drive after a report that a child had been shot. Upon arrival, they discovered the horrific scene.
The suspect in this devastating familicide is Kynli's father, Brandon Allan Kendrick II, who was 32 at the time of the incident. He was taken into custody at the home without a struggle. Kendrick was subsequently indicted on five counts of capital murder, with one count for the murder of two or more persons and four counts for the murder of a victim under the age of 14. He now faces the possibility of the death penalty. According to the suspect's grandfather, who was able to subdue him after hearing the gunshots, Brandon Kendrick had no recollection of the shooting. The grandfather also stated that his grandson had been living with them after suffering from physical, mental, and sexual abuse as a child.
