In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the quiet of a residential street. On April 17, 2016, at approximately 3:11 a.m., gunfire erupted in the 2500 block of 17th Street, Northwest. When police arrived, they found 35-year-old Jayvon Marshman of Southeast, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, the male victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Another adult male was also found at the scene with a
non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, seeking assistance from the public to piece together the events that led to Marshman's death.
In the wake of the shooting, authorities offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
