On May 3, 1982, Rebecca Dawn “Becca” Phillips—a white 16-year-old female from Anchorage, Alaska—set out with friends for a spring evening in East Anchorage's Russian Jack Springs Park. Sometime around nightfall, the quiet paths and open spaces turned perilous.
