On May 3, 1982, Rebecca Dawn “Becca” Phillips—a white 16-year-old female from Anchorage, Alaska—set out with friends for a spring evening in East Anchorage's Russian Jack Springs Park. Sometime around nightfall, the quiet paths and open spaces turned perilous. Gunfire erupted in the north end of the park, and by the time police arrived, four teenagers lay dead: Rebecca Dawn “Becca” Phillips another teenage girl, and two 19-year-old young men.
