She was 22 years old, a white woman from the Palmer–Anchorage orbit whose short life intersected with one of Alaska's darkest chapters. Teresa Watson was last seen in Anchorage on March 25, 1983, telling her roommate she planned to meet a man who offered $300 for a couple of hours of company. In the weeks that followed, winter still gripped the backcountry lakes north of town.
