On November 24, 2001, Alaska State Trooper Hans-Peter Roelle, aged 40, was fatally shot in Wasilla, Alaska, while responding to a domestic disturbance. The incident began when a suspect pushed his girlfriend out of a moving vehicle. Upon the arrival of medical personnel and troopers, the suspect fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit that was eventually called off as speeds exceeded 100 mph.
