On April 4, 2017, 44-year-old Jose Alfonso Sifuentes Morales, known as 'Shorty,' was found deceased on a street in downtown Fairbanks, Alaska. Responding to a report of a disturbance and a man lying in the road near 3rd Avenue and Hall Street, police discovered Sifuentes Morales's body shortly after midnight. An autopsy later confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound.
In the course of their investigation, Fairbanks Police released surveillance footage showing an individual walking
with Sifuentes Morales prior to the homicide. The person appeared to be wearing a hooded jacket, a ball cap, and pants with reflective striping on the lower legs. Authorities sought public assistance in identifying this individual, as well as the occupants of a white Chevrolet Impala sedan seen in the area around the time of the incident.
Despite these efforts, the case remains unsolved. The Fairbanks Police Department continues to seek information regarding the homicide of Jose Sifuentes Morales, emphasizing that homicide cases are never closed until solved.
