On April 29, 2017, in Barrow, Alaska, 21-year-old Dan Akootchook was fatally shot during a house party. The incident involved a shotgun and was reportedly linked to drug activity. Douglas George Spear Jr., also 21, was arrested and charged with Akootchook's murder.
