On May 6, 2017, in Sitka, Alaska, 28-year-old Ali Nicole Clayton was fatally shot by her boyfriend, 39-year-old Reuben Yerkes, during an argument at her residence. Yerkes, a municipal legal assistant with the City and Borough of Sitka, turned himself in to the Sitka Police Department shortly after the incident, confessing to the shooting.
