On November 28, 2019, in Anchorage, Alaska, 23-year-old Amanda Owen was fatally shot by her brother, 27-year-old Moses Crowe, during a family Thanksgiving gathering. Witnesses reported that Owen was seated with her 1-year-old son on her lap when Crowe confronted her about unfriending or blocking him on Facebook. The confrontation escalated, leading Crowe to draw a handgun and shoot Owen in the head.
