Hispanic/Latina Angela Telles, a 34-year-old woman from Anchorage, was killed on the morning of September 11, 2022, inside her apartment on the 8100-block of Bearberry Street in the Sand Lake area. Police had first been alerted at 8:11 a.m. by a man calling dispatch and saying he was armed and wanted to harm himself. Responding officers went to the Bearberry Street residence and found 34-year-old Angela Telles, Female, dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators quickly identified 33-year-old Antony Leone Socarras, who lived with 34-year-old Angela Telles, Female, as the suspect. Patrol officers formed a perimeter while SWAT and other special operations units responded. Socarras was located hiding in a ditch near 78th Avenue and Jewel Lake Road; he refused commands, leading officers to use chemical agents, less-lethal impact munitions, and a K9 to take him into custody. A handgun was found in his possession. He was remanded to the Anchorage Jail on charges of Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Murder in the Second Degree.
Charging documents described a night of escalating conflict before the shooting of 34-year-old Angela Telles, Female. Nine days later, the Anchorage District Attorney announced that a grand jury had indicted Socarras for the domestic-violence homicide of 34-year-old Angela Telles, Female, with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. The case proceeded through the courts, and by 2024 an Anchorage jury convicted Socarras of Murder in the Second Degree for the death of his former girlfriend.
At sentencing on May 2, 2025, the court heard from the family of 34-year-old Angela Telles, Female, about the enduring loss. The judge found poor prospects for Socarras's rehabilitation, noted the documented history of domestic violence, and emphasized that the murder occurred within earshot of Telles's minor child. The court imposed a 50-year prison term followed by 10 years of probation, and Socarras was placed in the custody of the Alaska Department of Corrections.
