On October 23, 2023, in Anchorage, Alaska, 34-year-old Josiah Michael Goecker was fatally shot at the Alpine Apartment Homes, where he served as the community director. The incident occurred after 27-year-old resident Jesse Lee Jones received a notice regarding a leasing dispute. Jones confronted Goecker in the leasing office, leading to a struggle during which Jones's firearm malfunctioned. After rectifying the issue, Jones shot Goecker multiple times before fleeing the scene.
