On October 28, 2023, in Homer, Alaska, 22-year-old Brianna Hetrick was fatally shot inside a residence on Adams Drive. The incident occurred around 4 p.m., prompting a response from the Homer Police Department and Alaska State Troopers. Upon arrival, officers arrested 35-year-old Arturo Mondragon-Lopez outside the home. According to charging documents, Mondragon-Lopez had called 911 to report that he had shot his girlfriend, Hetrick.
