A white female, 18-year-old Chloe Duke of Anchorage, Alaska, died on January 5, 2016, in what authorities determined to be a double homicide. She and her mother, 40-year-old Shannon Duke, were found fatally shot in their home in South Anchorage on Spinnaker Drive just before 7 p.m. by the father, who had returned home and discovered their bodies. The deaths were treated as domestic violence related.
Police responded to a report from a male who said he had come home to find his wife and
daughter dead. The daughter was identified as Chloe Duke, age 18. Their vehicle was missing from the residence, prompting a search for both the truck and a suspect. Later that night—around 8 p.m.—the missing truck and the suspect were located in the Big Lake area by Alaska State Troopers.
The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old male who lived at the house. He was taken into custody that same evening. Because of his age, his identity was withheld. The case was referred to the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice. There was no indication at that time of additional suspects.
In 2020, developments in court showed that the suspect—now older—was named Corbin Duke. At the time of the killings, he was 15 years old. Although prosecutors sought to try him as an adult, the Alaska Supreme Court later reversed that decision; he would not serve time in adult prison.
