In the spring of 2019, Jobe McDowney, a 23-year-old Black male from Washington, D.C., was fatally shot in an act of violence that also claimed the life of another young man. The incident unfolded on the evening of April 4th, when police responded to reports of gunfire in the 4900 block of Nash Street, Northeast. Inside the stairwell of a residential building, officers discovered McDowney and 21-year-old Desmond Richardson, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
