On December 19, 2021, 46-year-old Christopher "Chris" Lee Easter, an off-duty Birmingham firefighter, was fatally shot in Pelham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on West Stonehaven Circle, where emergency responders pronounced Easter dead at the scene. Easter was an 18-year veteran of the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and also served with the McCalla Fire District.
