On February 8, 2021, Stacey Walls Gosdin, a 49-year-old Caucasian woman, passed away at her home in Cusseta, Alabama. Born on March 12, 1971, in Langdale, Alabama, she was a mother of three and a grandmother. Known for being a strong, loving, and caring person, she was an active member of the Church of the Highlands in Auburn and a 1990 graduate of Valley High School.
Authorities from the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident at her residence at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the day of her death. An argument with her 19-year-old son reportedly escalated, resulting in her being fatally shot in the face.
Following the incident, her son was taken into custody and subsequently charged with her murder. The case drew considerable attention due to the familial relationship between the victim and the alleged perpetrator. Private services were held for her at a later date.
