On a summer day in July 2016, the life of 36-year-old Lorena Dawn Leasure, a White female from Brunswick, Georgia, was tragically cut short. On July 25, 2016, Leasure was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 85 in Alabama with three other people. The group was reportedly on their way to a job in Florida.
The journey took a violent turn when one of the passengers, 21-year-old Larry Moore of Toccoa, Georgia, opened fire from the back seat, fatally wounding Leasure.
The vehicle crashed following the shooting. In the ensuing chaos, Moore fled the scene in a desperate attempt to escape. He jumped onto a moving semi-tractor-trailer before leaping off into a nearby wooded area. His freedom was short-lived, however, as law enforcement later apprehended him at a gas station.
Moore was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of murder and two counts of unlawful shooting into an occupied vehicle. He was taken to the Chambers County Jail. The two other male occupants of the vehicle were taken to a hospital, and authorities stated they would not face any charges in connection with the incident.
