On the evening of April 3, 2021, a quiet street in Lipscomb, Alabama, became the scene of a sudden and tragic death. Joshua Scott II, a 50-year-old male, was walking near the 5000 block of 5th Street at approximately 8:26 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car did not stop to render aid and fled the scene, leaving Scott fatally injured.
Witnesses in the vicinity reported hearing the distinct sound of the impact.
Moments later, they observed a vehicle speeding southward on 5th Street, away from the area where the incident occurred. The abrupt and violent nature of the collision left the community in shock and searching for answers.
Investigators pieced together evidence from the scene and witness statements, which led them to believe the vehicle involved was a 2002–2004 Nissan Maxima. They surmise the car sustained damage to its front right bumper and possibly has a broken windshield or side glass as a result of the collision. A significant lead in the case came from an image of the suspect vehicle that was captured in the area around the time of the fatal hit-and-run.
Despite having a description of the car and a captured image, authorities have not yet been able to identify the driver. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Joshua Scott. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to bring the person responsible to justice.
