On December 17, 2020, 20-year-old Destiny Danielle Washington, a nursing student from Trussville, Alabama, was fatally shot during a transaction arranged through Facebook Marketplace. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hill Student Center on the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) campus.
