On November 11, 2020, 68-year-old Fred R. Sims was fatally shot during a domestic altercation at his residence in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred in the early morning hours at Sims' home, where he was involved in a dispute with a family member. During the confrontation, Sims sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
