On a Wednesday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 30, 2020, a 41-year-old Black man named Rodger Burr II was fatally shot while in his vehicle. The incident occurred in the Pratt City neighborhood, where officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to the 700 block of Carline Avenue following a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Burr unresponsive inside his silver Nissan Rogue, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were also at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
The preliminary investigation into the shooting suggests that Burr was driving and had stopped at the intersection of Avenue T and Carline Avenue when another vehicle, which has not been identified, pulled up alongside his.
