On January 6, 2020, at approximately 11:15 a.m., 34-year-old Douglas Paige Jr. was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. Officers from the South Precinct responded to a ShotSpotter alert near 9th Avenue North and 44th Place. Upon arrival, they discovered Paige unresponsive inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
