Marjorie Sue Fithian, a 23-year-old woman, had been visiting family in Denver with her 18-month-old son. On the morning of June 24, 1975, she and her son were supposed to board a bus back to Greeley, but they never made it.
Hours later, a ranch hand discovered a tragic scene about 50 miles from Denver. Marjorie Fithian was found lying in the road with a gunshot wound to her head. Beside her, amidst shattered glass, sat her unharmed toddler, clutching his mother's hand. The discovery sparked an extensive investigation into her murder.
