On a cold December morning in 2017, a sense of normalcy at a small, family-owned Milwaukee business was shattered by violence. Ala Mahmoud, a 40-year-old male employee, was shot and killed in what authorities believe was a robbery at North Avenue Foods, located at the corner of 38th and North. The incident, which occurred shortly before ten o'clock on Sunday, December 10th, left a community in shock and a family grappling with a sudden and devastating loss.
